Single purple-blue flowers (up to 7 inches in diameter) with red anthers bloom early to midseason on older branches, followed by additional late-summer blooms on new branches. Dark green leaves. Showy seed heads emerge in fall.
This clematis grows best in full sun or open shade. Provide a site with rich, well-drained soil that allows for regular watering in dry weather.
